.Whitehall Country Hotel and Restaurant

Opened in 1985, Whitehall is a luxury hotel close to Stansted Airport. It is a superbly restored Elizabethan Manor standiing on a hill overlooking beautiful north west Essex countryside.

Whitehall's restaurant is the focus for some of the finest food in the country, and is recognised as such in all the independent hotel and restaurant guides. This is served in the magnificent surroundings of a 15th century timbered dining hall.

On arriving, guests from all over the world are drawn to this stunning new centrepiece of the main reception area. The brass has quickly become a unique part of the historic ambience and tranquility that is Whitehall.

A world-famous brass, Sir Roger de Trumpington (1289) from Trumpington, Cambridge - is now believed by some to be the oldest in England but still remains in immaculate condition.

At 77 inches, Sir Roger is one of England's largest figure brasses and was a joy to work on over the five days - taking 52 hours to create.
